SURVEY

Welcome to Room 310

September 20, 2018

Dear Families,

I have posted the Coloma information in its own section on our page, so you can review the slide show and video we watched during the parent night.  I have also posted a digital copy of the student packet we sent home.

We are currently working on scheduling field trips for 4th grade to the Oakland Zoo and to the Oakland Museum.  Both trips will require drivers.  I will get more information out to you when the dates are settled.

Remember that next Friday, September 28 is a half day.  Students will be in class from 8:20 to 12:30.  School lunch will be served after dismissal at 12:30.  The elementary staff will be in training at Ruby Bridges for the afternoon.

Sincerely,

Mr. Miller

Our students will be engaged in a wide variety of activities that involve the following websites.  Students will be required to access these sites quickly and know their usernames and passwords.

Discovery Education -- This website allows students to search for videos that enhance they learning they are doing in class.  At times, they may be required to watch these videos for homework.  They can also be used as study tools to review content learned in class!

Biblionasium -- This website will be used for students to track and discuss the independent reading they are doing in class.  Instead of weekly book logs, students will be asked to write reviews for books that they are reading.

FOSSWeb -- This Website is brought to you by our FOSS Science Curriculum.  Students will be able to read the text and complete activities online!  Be sure to click the classroom login tab first.

OLE - Pearson's Online Learning Exchange.  This is the online site for our history/social studies book.  I will also post material and assignments here that are part of our studies.

TypingClub - Work on increasing typing skills.

Hoodah Math - Work on various math skills and logic puzzles.  Start by choosing 5th grade.

Newsela - Login and read leveled, non-fiction articles.  Take quizzes and respond to topics.  After you log in, check the binder for current assignments.

Kahoot - Enter game PIN during class.

Scratch - learn and hone coding skills through a free site developed by MIT.
